Gift Wrap Crafts

I realize they're not giftwraps, but they can also be made using gift wraps :D The colourful dots and the pink one below XOXO came close to gift wraps :P
Just like the previous one, except this one is cut

The crafts for gift wraps are not limited to these of course, you can make origami-s using them, paper quiling, bookmarks, tags, or even used in you scrapbooks. There is an endless list of what to make! Especially if you made your own gift wrap, it will be one of a kind!

Documentary Videos

Hey, it's been a while since I last posted anything. It's not because of lack of time actually, it's more on lack of friendly internet connection.. I am finally back home after being away for the last few months
Anyway, for my reopening statement, I want to tell you I am in the middle of organizing a documentary event consisting of 3 main events: competition, screening in, and screening out. So, in relation to that, I present to you the music video of 1, 2, 3, 4 by Plain White T's  (which is either documentary or scripted as documentary)

This is a notable post in the link, really really sweet and notable (by dorno03)

New Template (and other rants)

Hey! Look! It's Superman!

Naaahh..

I am now joining one of the few people using the classic "old" templates on blogspot/blogger.
Why? Well, I was frustrated when I saw that my customizations were not done by my old template, and the share buttons did not appear at all. Now, that would be bad for you, right? I mean, how were you going to share it in one click? But rest assured, I have now revert back to classic, black glasses, secretary look (not the hot, naughty ones, the bookworm ones), to give you the "sharing" statisfaction!

About that too, apparently I removed the followers widget a long time ago without realizing it.. So for those of you who were devastated by it, you can go follow me now ;)

Well, since I'm gonna post something, I might as well rant here. I will probably get to decorate my newly improved space between now and the next two years, so I have been looking at DIY home decorations and the likes, like the cereal box creations by Michele. I'll tell you again if I actually made any. But she made practically all her stuff with cereal boxes and toilet paper roll, and I rarely get them at home, so maybe I should buy stuff first to be recycled (kinda beats the purpose eh?) Heck, I'll find a subtitute.

I am now working on a 100 dreams poster! You should also do it. Without writing them down, dreams usually end up as a passing (things you say/think and forget on the spot). Especially because it is a poster (assuming that you put it in a strategic location), you will end up looking at them every day of your life, making you remember. And DO something. There is this guy that is (or was, I'm not sure) famous in Indonesia for completing his 100 dreams list (even getting to study in Japan) and is now on his way to the next 100. He is a living proof of the use of the 100 dreams poster.

Printable Sewing Cards by Minieco

A simple idea, you know you've seen it multiple times, but the idea just doesn't come to you. That is how I feel when I see Minieco's printable sewing cards. Although the idea is simple and you know this is not the first time seeing it, you (well, at least I) had not have any ideas about this at all!

Rather than buying them on the stores (which are usually from wood), you can now make it yourself. Most of these things are not something used over and over, storing wood will just take up space.

You can use this for a bonding time with your younger siblings, cousins, nephews, or nieces (you yourself have a choice of doing this with them or the actual sewing if you can stay out of harm's way in front of the actual needles), gifts for those younger ones, and even wall arts!

Image from http://www.minieco.co.uk/printable-sewing-cards/
The only things you need are:
A printer
Colored cards (or you can color the printed white card)
Hole puncher
Wool
Blunt needle
Button or bead (though you can skip this and just tie the ends together)

Adding on to my rant on how I never thought of this, now that I see it made, I am getting inspired, so maybe you will see the randomest, weirdest creations that are sewing cards related :p

Don't forget to check out Minieco's tutorials for things like you very own DIY invisible ink, magic potions, and cardboard bells that would look really cool as a home decoration.
Aaalsooooo, look at this boredom busters and get inspired ;)

Homemade Hardcover Book

I promised in my previous previous post that I would post about a hardcover book I made myself. Apparently I ran out of things to post before making a better looking one. This blog was starting to look like it would change its name to 'Cookies Crafties'. However, I don't think I am done with my cookies spree yet, so you might find it again in the future (possibly near).
The prototype hardcover book has only 3 faults (that I have found until now):
1. I did not cut the board to have sides in 90 degrees to each other, so the cover is odd shaped
2. the cover/first paper was not big enough to fully cover the board (as seen on the last (open) picture)
3. I cut the board wrong, it should have been in 3 parts, not 2, to make it look like the frequently encountered hardcover books.
But hey, it's a pretty good first try. After this, I will try to make thicker ones with pretty covers, so wait eagerly for it, okay?

it's just a thin trial

Wedding Cookies ++

I really like to see wedding cookies, more than wedding cupcakes. Because it's weird and cool (and cute too). It would be cooler if someone actually used the cookies as the wedding cake, somehow, rather than just a wedding favor. Here are some of sightings I like.

http://annasubhadrabellord.blog.com/2010/05/18/edible-wedding-favors/
If you watch DC Cupcakes, you might remember them making a two-tier wedding cupcake once, decorated with white fondant, pearls, and purple mini flowers. The cookie in the bottom right looks like that.

Cupcake Cookies

Isn't it the cutest thing? I really like the little drips, makes it look like a ice cream. Nyum.
The only problem I see is how to eat it, other that taking it apart first, but that's a waste of cuteness tho.
The link has a how-to on making it.

Egg tarts and my previously insect-infected laptop

Remember my post about egg tarts? I made them!! People said they were
delicious too, but I didn't use any of the recipes I gave you, I used this one. Because I was too lazy to make my own puff pastry this time, I bought a pre-made one and searched a recipe with a pre-made one :P It's okay, just say all the methods needed to make it, people will just believe you did it yourself. The filling was nice too, though I wished I can make caramel to add on it.

Now that you have been pleased and delighted by the egg tart picture, I couldn't post anything in a while because my laptop was "infected" by insects. They are everywhere. Lots of them. So I had to seek professional help (because I lack computer knowledge) on cleaning it all. This was probably the one in a million problem faced by those professionals too. The weirdest things is that, they got inside the battery slot. I mean, it's supposed to be sealed, right? I also had my suspicions that they got even further inside, but I can't check on that, so.. I'll just let them be. No, they are not alive inside it, they're the kind that died in a night.
So how did my laptop got insected you ask? I also don't know. My brother was borrowing it, and we left it on and went to the movies (the whole family did). When we got home, his room was filled with those insects, wings shed, crawling on the floor, bed, and my laptop. -___- But it's cleaned now

I should be able to make a posting schedule somehow so I don't forget O:) I made my own hardcover prototype book yesterday and might post it (after I make a better looking one). I will also accept orders if you want. :D Also, I will hopefully post a how-to on the origami frog next week. Just hope I remember, because I should have a lot going this week and the next.

Egg Tarts + Pancakes

Two things I want to make and eat these days are: egg tarts and pancakes. There is a shop somewhere in this country Indonesia (I'm not sure where exactly) that sells delicious Portuguese Egg Tarts :D The shop is called Golden Egg somethings. I am not sure the difference between the portuguese one and the other one (because I'm not sure if I ever ate the normal one) but the portuguese one was delicious. It has caramel sweetness, egg custard softness, and maybe a little crunch of the pastry. Pancake? I just wanted it from seeing McDonald's breakfast ad :P
For those interested in trying as well, here are some recipes: (get the instructions in the respective websites)

Ingredients for Crust:

340g Top Flour
230g Butter
70g Caster Sugar
1/2 Beaten Egg

INACRAFT 2011 (Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair)

HEY ALL! I went to INACRAFT 2011 (Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair)!
I went there in 2 consecutive days and hauled the randomest things. Rose clay pins, muffin tray, batik shoes, batik (ish) necklace, batik hairband, batik hair clip, rose-shaped silk cocoon (pupa) hair clip, a book on paper lanterns, 2 batik kangaroos key chain, a pin of a couple with traditional clothings, a card with random traditional dance on it, a magnet on a iconic (I thing) Indonesian product INDOMIE! For some reason they are all little trinkets (except for ONE pair of shoes).
Also, 2 days is not enough apparently. Just on my way out, I saw the cutest bags and notebooks. Wish I had more time. :"(
      Anyway, enjoy some pictures:

      Most importantly :D

      Paper Bracelet (from Hermès)

      Hermes' paper bracelet
I'm so excited >< I've been wanting to make paper accessory for so long and I finally found a simple one :D
This one is from the Hermès website. The website has the pdf file of the template and instructions for 6 colors. Visit the website, then click ‘travel the world of Hermès‘. A new window will open, there try finding the bracelet image (like the one on the left) or use the navigation bar at the left and choose 'surprises'. At the page with the bracelet, choose which of the different colors you want to make and click ‘I want it‘. This will take you to the PDF file of the template and instructions that you can print and make :D

      Origami Heart

      Using the methods from http://www.origami-fun.com/origami-heart.html

Of course there are other methods to fold origami heart, like ones with pockets, heart in a heart, 3d heart, etc. But this was the first thing I clicked on through google. Maybe I'll try out the other styles and blog about them.

This is my most containing picture post. Uploading 43 images were a drag. Especially with my internet -__-

Koihime (The princess addicted to bags) + lost all my great links

So, my laptop somehow suddenly went Bla. And now cannot be turned on. I don't know Why or How it happened, but that's what happened. So that means a limitless possibility of lost data, lost pictures, lost of all the great links I want to share to you guys. :'( Hopefully they can be restored or at least I can find the links again and the other data are somehow backed up through my 'emailing to myself' laziness of searching for the flashdisk.

So, here is a cute cubee from www.we-talk-about.com

Koihime (The princess addicted to bags)

Well, I can't read the website, but what I do know is they have more of that cute stuff here.

      Straw Wrapper Rose

People always leave the top half (or top third or even just a tin piece) of their straw wrapper on the straw to keep the section where you sip from clean. But you know, a rectangular piece of paper on the straw is boring. Here is one you can do to really impress your guests (or families or even yourself):

The guy actually recieved it in an actual store. Cool. I wanna go to that store..
There is also a How-to Video in the link above actually, if you want to make your own.

      Discovered through http://www.hellolovelies.com/

      Paper Calender 2011

      HAPPY NEW MONTH!
So before the year went by too fast, here are 3 amazing paper calender I found!
Print them and hang them on the ceiling, or put them on the dresser/wardrobe. Or just put it in our wallet. Anywhere. Make them! Really! They are beyond awesome! Maybe I'll make one of my own for next year :P

      PAPER ACCORDION CALENDER from http://www.paperfoldables.com/
So cute right?? I want to make one but I don't have any colored printer in my house. :( I especially like it's vintage look. Also check out his other cubees. I also like his insertable ones, like the fisher one, where you can put pennies in both the fish and the bag. There are also Cubee for piggy (human) bank.
The printable PDF file for the paper accordion can be found here.

PAPER TOY POP-UP CALENDER from http://clovered.net/blog/
I also like her other creations, they're all so cute :3 You can also find her in DeviantArt. Her arts are GORGEOUS!
The printable file is not available right now because his work is being sold by some people. So go support him! (somehow) Try to contact her if you want to make one, or be inspired, make one of your own with the tutorial she has in here.

      PAPER CALENDER GIRLFRIEND from http://www.3eyedbear.com/
Finally! A pocket-sized girlfriend(s) who doesn't talk much. And also tells you the date all around the year.
This is one I have made of my own. I borrowed my friend's printer for this, so I didn't want to ask again for the paper accordion (I found this first). It's definitively cute to be put on drawers or desks. 3eyedbear's other cubees are also amazing too. And somewhat complex (and not all human compared to paperfoldables)
Printable here, or here (same thing).

Pictures except for the Girlfriend one are from their respective websites (the Girlfriend one uses photos of the one I made)

      Rose Origami and White Day

Here is one I made on last year's valentine. I used the instructions given on the link to make it.I think the bigger the rose (and paper) is, the easier it is, especially if it is your first time. The paper I used here is the same as the one I used to make the rose paper quilling for my mother's birthday hahaha.. So, enjoy, try it out!

      DIY gift for my mom

Hey! It was my mother's birthday yesterday. Since I already bought quilling tools, I decided I would give her my first go. :D It's actually pretty easy if you have the tools. Also, because I am a cheap person, I did not want to buy the more expensive pre-cut quilling papers and cut the cost by buying a A4-sized colored paper instead. I could get like 20 papers for Rp5,000 (about 50 cents US) than Rp20,000 (more than US$2.00) for less than a sheet of paper's worth of pre-cut papers. The paper should be 80-100 grams tho, otherwise it won't be rigid enough or too rigid/thick. However, if there is none near your place, I guess somewhere near that should be fine.

      the tools
Ruler, colored paper, safety knife (called 'cutter' in my country), paper glue, scissors and a quilling needle. the glue should come out transparent and should dry out quick, so you don't need to hold it for long. To apply the glue, search for a small points or objects like a toothpick.

First Post of My First Blog

      a frog origami from wayback

Hey, Cynder here! How are you everyone? :D
So, this is my first post! Hooraaay!
I will try to dedicate this blog to paper crafting even though my interests usually run amok and go everywhere. Using this blog, I will also try to improve my skills on crafting, and may be design some random stuff.
So, I need to make a deadline for myself, so this blog stays active. Maybe a post every two week? Then, maybe after I accustom myself to blogging and have customized this blog enough to my liking I will post more often. But for now, one post every two week it is. Probably at Sundays.
So maybe you want to remind mo to do that too in case I forget. LOL.
For now just enjoy the Frog Origami picture, maybe I can show how to make it sometime.
      So, see you next time!
